Wild gnus: Isra’ and Mi’raj

Just looking at the recent footage out of Iran. A wild gnu (guess) is that it’ll be fully toppled in less than 48 hours. I say 24 by the looks of the film shot and the amount of protestors and yelling. Not to mention that tomorrow is a Muslim High Holiday. I am not going to spell out the Arabic Phrase yet, but the holiday is in celebration of Muhammad’s night journey and ascent to heaven, where he met with ancestors along the Abrahamic line and confirmed a connection between Judaism, Christianity and Islam. (BTW: in the Western Hemisphere the holiday fallas on July 19th, 2009.) Apparently this holiday is actually an observance. Muhammad and muslim’s protection through familial lines had died. This left him with no protection. (Isra’ and Mi’raj is the name of the lesser holiday. According to an article many do not observe it, the just read alloud and reflect on historical and holy writings). On this nigth, Muhammad prayed at a holy place, his relief in the stress was a vision, or his death were he travels to heaven and remembers it all. An immediate comparison to the stress/harrasment may be Juden Nacht. Juden Nicht, Kristallnacht, if I am using the term correctly, in reference to the holocaust when over 2,000 jewish people’s shops were hvadalized, seized and some raped in a raid. If there is a move like that upon the supporters of Moussavi or visaversa upon Ahminedajad’s supporter, something cataclismic would happen. The main concern would be were do the  emigrees settle? Iraq? Afghanistan?

The last time an Islamic High Holiday came around the seasonal wheel I had asked my boss to change the date of a particular program. A large portion of the community was muslm and I had an odd feeling something might happen. Not that anyone but me saw a connection, but a police stand off and several dead individual including children near a religious location happened. I’m getting the same feeling with the occurences in Iran.

Second reaction to current Iran footage: They’ll start pulling people from their houses and shooting them live on state television. If you have ever read and Milan Kundera or Andrei Cordrescu you might catch on to the savagery that is comparatively playing in my head. I think it may go either way. It’ll take a small flash point and courage before government building are seized by the protestors. My guess, state radio or television will go first or second, before any attempt on the religious ruling authority.

Considering the possibility that everything and everyone in state affiliation and in power is secure, maybe, just maybe this protest is a period that has been worked into their governing structure. If it is solid and absolute, which a theocracy would have to tout as its mainline. Then truly everything is under control. And this is just a veil to cover something else occuring on the ground. On thing I ran into when looking up which holiday was occuring tomorrow in the Islam religion. The holiday I though is was is the handing down of the Qur-an from Heaven. Personally I wondered, what paperwork was going to be delivered to Mousaui, Ahminedahjad and the protestors from heaven. A declaration of Civil War? I wonder what is going on the the other provinces of Iran. Not just the city protests. Is this movement just an “inner city” persepctive, or is there other input that needs to be considered?
