Shortwave,not shorthand
The following are brief nuggets from notes embellished by what I have run into this month.
From Radio China all the way to Havanna, Cuba then Radio Russia
- China developing headlong into Solar Power and discounts for promotions.
- Europe is also investing in developing solar power and maybe wind power in Northern Africa.
- Separatist/Independence movement growing in China (Uighurs)
- Secretary of State Hillary Clinton brokered two nuclear power plants and $10 Billion in sophisticated weapongs for military aid in India. Note: Brief mention that the U.S. does not give up defense systems that it purchases for itself.
- U.S. sees India as a gatway in to influence South and Southeast Asia.
- China, despite what many think, is the hook that will pull the world out of deeper economic collapse say some speculators. Over a 5% increase in sales in the past quarter. China wants to work closely with the U.S. economically on common matters including Korea.
- VP Biden’s abroad is finishing up President Obama’s ventures out. Radio Netherlands reports that Biden arriving one day after the 5 day war in Georgia will profer as not taking sides but trying to ensure balance, not play favorites in the region and try not to sacrifgice the U.S. intents.
- According to two difrferent countries reports, the Internatinoal community does not recognize the government in power in Honduras. The U.S. has stopped or will stop aid to Honduras. noticing that more aid and conversaiton in the news is going to assisting Africa. Spanish speaking countries may be going on the backburner. This is all a guess. I t may have to do with the backgrounds of Presidents. The Bushes were in Texas, a state with a large Spanish speaking population. Clinton’s skill was in domestic affairs. Maybe President Obama’s is Africa.
- Venezuelan diplomats have been expulsed from Honduras. Chavez influence is being curtailed.
- Radio Havana,Cuba commented on Mass Demonstrations occuring this week and coming week maybe in Honduras ”to force the regime to surrender power”
- Nicaraguan President has taken a hint from removed former President Zalaya. He has called for a referendum to to extend Presidental term limits. From a CNN report and possible another report I viewed, it was insinuated that a reason Zalaya was outsted was his intent to extend term limits by his own power and not through popular vote. Also Zalaya tried to reenter Honduras by the Nicaraguan border.
- Voice of Russia commented that there is consideration of a new security system in Europe that must take into accout the number of armed forces in Europe, Georgia’s admitted agression against Russia, the possiblity of new U.S. bases.
- I remember IBM finishing the fastest computer in the world which was then to be tailored for nuclear defense. Some have been abroad for months now do installations. What gets taken into account for places like India, Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan?
